RESURGENCE242 YOUTH RETREAT

You might be thinking to yourself, what in the world does resurgence242 have to do with anything and why does that name appear on this website. I have always been intrigued by the first church and its ambition to know Jesus and get his message out to the world. I think their actions should inform how we go about living our lives as well. The anabaptist/pietist movement had similar characteristics in that it had an intense desire to know and please God and then to get out the message of salvation through Jesus alone. That thought has led me to focus on Acts 2:42-47 which says:

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

These ideas coupled with the word RESURGENCE (a rising again into life, activity, or prominence) are what we would hope that Youth Retreat would encapsulate. That the teaching of the scripture and the discipline of prayer would reinvigorate every person that comes to camp. Combine that with the fellowship of a knowledgable staff and other Christian young people, we hope, with the work of the Spirit, to bring people to a better place in their walk with Jesus. We also hope that we all walk away with new awe of what God can do and is doing in us and the people around us. This ultimately should get us shouting the GOOD NEWS as we drive back down the mountain.

Godspeed - Hope to see you at Resurgence242 Youth Retreat this year!
