About Us

Youth Retreat: A Legacy in the Rockies

Our History

Founded in 1976 by Len Wertz, Youth Retreat was born out of a specific vision: to provide Dunkard Brethren youth with a dedicated space to grow. Len recognized a need for a place where young people could develop leadership skills and receive sound Bible teaching on relevant subjects. Most importantly, he sought to create an environment that intentionally broke down the cliques dividing youth at the time, fostering a unified community.

Our Mission

While decades have passed, our core goals remain unchanged. We aim to:

  • Equip: Provide sound, biblical teaching on subjects relevant to today's youth.

  • Lead: Develop leadership skills and offer mentoring opportunities.

  • Unite: Break down social barriers to build a cohesive, supportive community.

  • Inspire: Utilize the awe-inspiring beauty of the Rocky Mountains to connect with the Creator.

The Camp Experience

Youth Retreat is designed for ages 14 through "twenty-something." This unique age range allows for a rich diversity of perspectives and creates a natural mentorship pipeline where older campers can provide guidance and leadership for the younger ones.

Spiritual Growth

The heart of our spiritual program is our structured teaching series:

  • 7-Lecture Series: A deep dive into biblical truths.

  • Small Group Discussions: Every lecture concludes with a focused small group session, allowing campers to interact directly with staff and peers to process what they have learned.

  • Workshops: Three dedicated workshop times offer practical application and specialized learning.

  • Evening Worship: Each day concludes around a campfire, featuring worship and activities designed to deliver a spiritual lesson in a communal setting.

Recreation and Fellowship

We believe that physical activity and "chilling out" are vital to the camp experience. Surrounded by the smell of pine and the beauty of the Colorado foothills, campers enjoy:

  • Volleyball, Basketball, disc golf, pickleball, spikeball, hiking, etc.

  • Purposeful time for making new friends and strengthening old bonds.

  • Physical activity is integrated into the majestic mountain landscape.

Registration and Fees

The registration fee covers everything we will be doing at camp.

  • Single Registration: $180

  • Household Discount: $165 per additional camper from the same household

  • Early Bird Bonus: Registrations received on or before June 20th include a free t-shirt and help ensure proper food and lodging arrangements.

Resurgence242, C/O Lonnie Edgecomb, 12406 NW 2100 RD, Garnett, KS 66032

What to Bring

Please pack the following items for your stay:

  • Essentials: BIBLE, notebook, flashlight, sleeping bag, and personal effects.

  • Clothing: Modest, comfortable casual clothing suitable for hiking and volleyball. Include a coat, jacket, or hoodie for cooler mountain temperatures.

  • Protection: Sunscreen and insect spray.

  • Participation: Special music or a skit for talent night.

  • Attitude: Most of all, a willingness to learn from God’s Word.

Note: Do not bring fireworks or water balloons; there are strict state laws regarding these items.

Location and Transportation

Camp Colorado is located on 85 acres of pine, spruce, and fir-covered land within the Pike National Forest at an altitude of 7,500 feet. The facility features study areas, a recreation building with a stage, hiking trails, a ball field, and an outdoor chapel. Learn more at www.campcolorado.org.

Getting There:

  • Campers are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the camp.

  • If flying into Denver, please arrange transportation from the airport with a friend or family member.

  • Please Note: Camp vans will not be running to/from the airport. We recommend grouping arrivals with friends to simplify pick-ups.

Our Location

We are hosted at Camp Colorado, located just west of Castle Rock, Colorado. The foothills of the Rocky Mountains provide a stunning backdrop for our activities, offering an environment where the great outdoors serves as a constant reminder of God's handiwork.

2026 CASP Project – Serving the Torreon Community

Our fifth CASP Pilot Project is planned for June – July, 2026. This will be a community service project in and around the Torreon community. The Torreon Navajo Mission near Cuba, New Mexico, will serve as the base for this project. The dates are June 20 – July 17. This project is an opportunity for young men of draftable age (18-25) who are members of the Dunkard Brethren Church to grow spiritually, mature, enjoy the satisfaction of service, and develop new, deeper, and lasting friendships with like-minded young brothers from across our Brotherhood. The cost is taking a month out of the volunteer’s life from a job or whatever else he might be doing. The experience will be somewhat stretching, but rewarding. Usually it is when we get outside of our comfort zones that real growth occurs. Along with the work projects, emphasis will be made throughout the time of service on outreach in the community, personal spiritual growth, times of Bible study and singing, recreation and other activities to promote spiritual development. Young men who are interested in serving on this project should contact Bob Lehigh or Mark Cordrey, Jr. Bob Lehigh email: rlehighdb@gmail.com cellular: 717-817-6025 Mark Cordrey, Jr. email: mac@iwsdrs.com cellular: 209-606-8677
We need at least 8 young brothers willing to serve in this way. You can help by spreading the word among the young men in your life or in your congregation. This offer is open to young men who are members of the Dunkard Brethren Church through March 15, 2026. Depending on the response, if there are still openings after March 15, this offer will be
open to young men who are of similar faith and practice. We have decided to accept up to 16 young men
to serve on this project. For those who would consider serving on staff, let someone on the Civilian Service Board know
shortly as these positions are filling in.
For this project, with the housing available there is an opportunity for young married couples to
serve (the husband as an Alternative Service Worker and his wife as domestic staff). Formerly we
focused on single young men due to the housing that was available on the other projects.
We deeply appreciate the prayers and support of the Brotherhood during our past projects, and
would appreciate that on this project as well.
If you have questions, feel free to get in touch with any member of the Civilian Service Board:
Kyle Chupp, Alan Meyers, Seth Skiles, or Bob Lehigh, or you may get in touch with Mark Cordrey, Jr.
of the Relief Board.
Thanks so much for your prayerful support and cooperation in this effort.
Sincerely in Christ,
Brother Bob Lehigh
