About Us

Committed to Enriching the Lives of Youth

Let me start by giving you some history about this youth camp called Youth Retreat.  It was started in 1976 by Len Wertz, who had a vision to see Dunkard Brethren youth have a place to gain leadership skills, get sound Bible teaching about relevant subjects and in the process break down the cliques that were dividing youth at the time. All this in the camp setting of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, a place where the great outdoors is awe inspiring and physical activity is easy to come by. Little has changed from those original goals. Youth Retreat is designed for youth ages 14 to twenty something, which gives us diversity and the opportunity for older campers to mentor and provide leadership for younger campers.  We do a 7 lecture teaching series  and have 3 workshop times, around which all the other activities of camp revolve. Every lecture is ended with a small group discussion that allows you to interact with one of the staff members and your peers about the subject that has just been presented. That lecture series is surrounded by plenty of fun activities like volleyball, hiking, chilling out with old friends and making new ones. Every evening we end the day around a campfire with a time of worship and an activity with a spiritual lesson.  All of this is enjoyed with the smell of pine in the air at Camp Colorado in the beauty of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains just west of Castle Rock, Colorado.

What does it cost?
Single Registration $165. Additional registrations from the same household $145 per camper  (that means $310 if you have 2 campers) and the check can be made out to Youth Retreat.  This fee along with your camper registration with permission to attend and health statement forms should be sent to Youth Retreat; 12406 NW 2100 RD, Garnett Ks 66032. This fee will cover everything that we will be doing at camp.   If we have received your registration on or before June 20th will get you a free t-shirt and it would be very helpful to ensure that you will be eating and sleeping with the rest of the group.

What should I bring with me?

Modest, comfortable casual clothing (we will be hiking and playing volleyball), coat or jacket or hoody, sunscreen, notebook, BIBLE, insect spray, flash light, sleeping bag, personal effects, special music or skit for talent night and most of all a willingness to learn from GODS WORD. (PS. do not bring fireworks or water balloons there are strict state laws about them.)

Camp Colorado and how do I get there?

Camp Colorado is located on 85 pine/spruce/fir covered acres in the Pike National Forest (7,500 feet - altitude) Equipped with numerous study/teaching areas, recreation building (stage, meetings, games), hiking trails, athletic activities, ball field, campfire area and outdoor chapel. The camps website is www.campcolorado.org. Campers are expected to provide and coordinate there own transportation from home to the camp site and back again. Please make arrangements with someone to transport you from the airport if you are flying to Denver. Vans will not be running from the camp to the airport.  Try grouping your arrivals with some friends to maximize the efforts of the people picking you up.
